While the internet is buzzing with summer cocktail recipes, I want to share my favorite non-alcoholic summer drink. While it may not have alcohol, it is as caffeinated as coffee without coffee jitters.
It’s secret ingredient is matcha, which is just as nutritious as it is delicious. If you’ve never heard of matcha, this is what you need to know. It’s a finely ground green tea, traditionally brewed with a matcha whisk and bowl. It’s a mood enhancer, antioxidant, natural weight loss aid, balances pH and detoxifies. It has an earthy flavor like traditional green teas, but in my opinion is creamier and less bitter. That said, it can be heavy for summer drinking, which is why I love this recipe. Matcha elevated with a refreshing summer twist.
I like to brew matcha traditionally with a whisk, but brewing techniques are neither here nor there. Add 3 parts lemonade to 1 part matcha in a cup with ice and an optional fresh lemon slice. If you really want to go above and beyond, cut down on sugar by making your own homemade lemonade.
