Makeup is like a black hole, hundreds of brands all turning out similar product making it near impossible to decide what’s worth your hard earned money. I’ve begun to switch my cosmetics to all natural products over the last 6-8 months. Whenever I run out of a product I replace it with an all natural alternative. That way I’m not wasting money by throwing away perfectly good cosmetics and the slow transition leaves me time to research and decide what I want to try next. When I say all natural cosmetics, I am talking about products that are cruelty-free, ethically sourced and sustainable, and formulated using plants without toxic or synthetic materials. Here are the all natural products I use day to day.
Suntegrity Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen & Primer, SPF 30 – As you’ve hopefully heard by now, SPF should be a part of your everyday skincare routine. I top my moisturizer with an SPF then apply my makeup on top. Suntegrity is a mineral SPF (you will have to rub in well to avoid white cast) that is light weight, not oily or greasy and feels like your natural skin once it dries down.
EIR All Natural Surf Mud – A more concentrated zinc SPF for days at the beach or hanging in the sun. I use it as a lip SPF because it’s extra moisturizing. This is a healthier more luxurious version of the white zinc you see on lifeguards noses in the movies, heads up you will get white cast.
Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream – When I am going to a special event or need a full face of makeup, I have two foundations I always grab. The first is this CC cream, full coverage, a great source of anti-aging properties, has an SPF of 30 and is ultra moisturizing. My only word of caution is that it oxidizes when you apply, so going into a store to try it before you buy is a must. I wear the shade Sun-Kissed Glow.
Ilia Vivid Foundation – This second foundation is more of a serum formula while still providing medium to full coverage. It has aloe vera, green tea and rosemary extract and comes in a wide variety of colors. I wear the color Tanami.
RMS Beauty “Un” cover-up – On any given day I am more than likely wearing only this coverup. It’s coconut oil based with heavy coverage making it great for spot concealing. I was introduced to RMS Beauty on a photoshoot and never looked back. I use two colors 44 and 55, the darker color 55 for my face and 44 on dark circles under my eyes.
Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint – I personally think cream blushes blend a bit better than powder blushes when it comes to natural cosmetics. These lip and cheeks are at the top of the food chain in the luxury blush and lip colors world. Tata doesn’t have a wide selection of colors but you cant go wrong with the colors they do have. I wear Very Naughty and Very Vivacious.
Well People Expressionist Mascara – Not only one of my favorite natural mascaras, but one of my favorite mascaras overall. An extremely black formula that lengthens and separates your lashes. This is my everyday go to that is also affordable.
Kjaer Weis Mascara – Just like Tata, Kajer Weis is a luxury natural makeup brand. You’ll pay a pretty penny, but the products are phenomenal. I use this mascara in tandem with my Well People on days that I want those vava voom lashes. The beautiful silver packaging is also reusable, when you run out keep the packaging, order a refill and reuse the same silver tube. It’s cheaper and more sustainable.
Ilia Lipstick – Ilia is a lipsticks that I’ve heard about ever since entering the all natural cosmetic space but never tried until recently. The hype is all true, pigmented, comfortable to wear, a wide range of colors and the packaging is beyond elegant. My favorite shade is The Brides.
Ilia Lipstick Crayon – Ilia’s Lipstick Crayon is similar to the lipstick with added moisture and sheen. I love the color 99 Red Balloons as a pop of red.
Tata Harper Floral Essence – My biggest trick when it comes to flawless healthy skin is hydration. This floral essence is the perfect refresh throughout the day.
H2O – Makeup works a million times better when your skin is at it’s best. You can buy all of the fancy and expensive makeup you want, but the magic bullet has been and always will be water. Drink as much as you can whenever you can!
One of my favorite resources for all things natural beauty is Credo Beauty. They have store fronts around the country, but their website is comprehensive and extremely informative. Definitely checking it out!
